Alan Parsons
Alan Parsons was only 19 years old when he began his training at Abbey Road Studios in London, working under the direction of Beatles engineer Geoff Emerick and Beatles producer George Martin. From there, Alan would make his first mark as an engineer and earn credit for his involvement in the making of The Beatles “Abbey Road” LP. After working with The Beatles on Let It Be, Alan started working as a full-fledged engineer with Paul McCartney, Wings, George Harrison, and countless other artists who came to Abbey Road studios.
Doors opened for this wunderkind engineer after his time at Abbey Road Studios and Alan went on to become one of the most successful producers of the 1970s and 1980s. His sonic mastery would produce a string of hits and help shape records by Paul McCartney and Wings, Al Stewart, Ambrosia, Cockney Rebel, John Miles, and Pilot. In 1972 Alan became the sole engineer working with Pink Floyd on Dark Side Of The Moon, a record which would go on to sell more than 45m copies. Alan’s legendary ‘Quad’ mix of Dark Side Of The Moon was included on the Immersion Edition 6 CD Boxed Set.
A studio architect by profession, Alan was also a musician and a composer with visions and concepts of his own. In 1975, The Alan Parsons Project, a concept collaboration with composer, pianist, and singer Eric Woolfson, released its first of eleven studio albums over a storied fifteen-year career. Dedicated to his craft, in 2019 Alan released his fifth solo album The Secret, much of which was recorded and all of which was mixed at ParSonics Studio. He also continues to work as an independent producer and, after a dozen career Grammy nominations, Alan and collaborators PJ Olsson and Dave Donelly, won the Grammy in 2019 for Best Immersive Audio Album with the 35th Anniversary Edition of “Eye In The Sky”.
